More Famous Last Words

I’ve had some good response from my last posting on this subject. There’s a whole book of last words in my collection, called, appropriately, “Famous Last Words”, compiled by Jonathon Green.

Machiavelli:

Here’s a juicy one:

“I desire to go to hell and not to heaven. In the former place I shall enjoy in the company of popes, kings and princes, while in the latter are only beggars, monks and apostles”.

– Niccolo Machiavelli, Florentine political theorist, died 1530.
