I set off for a cookery workshop at Amano Cooking School in the beach-side Perth suburb of Cottesloe. It was fun, as usual. I chose a nice winter menu – it is still fairly cold here in Perth, especially at night.
Hearty Rustic Winter Vegetables
Simple & Sublime Gujarati Pumpkin served with steamed Thai rice
Brussels Sprouts, Potatoes & Peas with Sour Cream Served with crusty bread
Greek-style Eggplant Casserole (Moussaka)
Oven-roasted Lemon & Rosemary infused Sweet Potato with Fresh Corn Chutney
Roasted Cauliflower & Stir-fried Snow Peas with Cashews served with Flakey Paratha Breads
There were a lot of ingredients in the class. We got them set up and prepared just in time for the commencement of the class.
The ladies (and two men) were poised to learn (and eat!).
Only one lady had attended a class of mine before, so I regaled them all with stories of turmeric, asafetida and fenugreek.
Although I didn’t get time to cook the parathas, no-one noticed, and I would have to say the Brussels Sprouts dish and the succulent and cheesy Moussaka were the most popular dishes of the night.
